Elena Update: 10.25.09, Sun, 1:15pm

Ok, just spoke to the "weekend warrior" docs...Dr Cartie (Pediatric Doc) & Dr Nordness (General Surgeon).

X-Ray this morning didn't show much change from yesterday's x-ray or CT.

They're planning on doing the De-cortication tomorrow...morning or afternoon.

Ok, I was "schooled" on how this may go...the thorocoscopy, thorocotomy & cortication are all related.

The first two are just two different ways of entering the body...with a scope & suction or with a scope & some grippers (to grasp, capture or "peel off" some of the krap in her lung). He literally described it akin to peeling an orange--which is basically the decortication part.

The decortication is the scraping or cleaning out of the krap in the lung (the peeling of the orange).

SO...IF they have to do something tomorrow, they'll enter either by thorocoscopy or thorocotomy in order to decorticate the lung.

And all the above explanation is probably still a little off, but at any rate, that's about how I understood it.

God-willing she won't need to do ANY of that stuff!

Thanks for your continued prayers!

Love you all!

P.S. Also starting to post these updates as 'Notes' on my Facebook page.

P.S. Those of you all who have offered to help out with stuff...please call Beth Bell. She's doing the coordinations.
